Burst every page
Each page is saved as its own PDF and the set is delivered as a single .zip — no selection needed.
Split PDF opens one document in your browser tab and draws every page as a numbered thumbnail, so you choose by sight instead of guessing page numbers. There are two ways out. Extract takes the pages you selected — by clicking thumbnails or typing a range such as 1-3, 5, 8-10 — and writes them into one new PDF, always in their original page order. Split every page ignores the selection and saves each page as its own PDF, named report-p1.pdf, report-p2.pdf and so on for a file called report.pdf, packed into one .zip when there is more than one page. Both use pdf-lib, which copies pages as they are: text stays selectable, images keep their original data, and each page keeps its size and rotation. Bookmarks, the fillable-form definition and the document title are not copied into the new files. Every page is rendered on your device before you can select, so a long PDF takes a moment to open, and the practical ceiling is your device’s memory, not an upload limit.
What you can do
- Every page shown as a numbered thumbnail — click to select or deselect
- Type ranges such as 1-3, 5, 8-10; a backwards range (9-3) is read as 3-9 and numbers past the last page are ignored
- “Select all” and “Clear”, with a live count of pages selected
- Extract the selection to one PDF, saved as yourfile-extract.pdf
- Split every page into single-page PDFs, delivered together as yourfile-pages.zip
- Pages copied, not re-rendered: selectable text, original image data, and each page’s own size and rotation
- Nothing is uploaded; pages are split on your device
How to use split pdf
- Click “Choose a PDF” or drop it on “Drop a PDF here”The tool works on one file at a time; if you drop several, only the first is opened. “Reading pages…” shows progress while every page is rendered as a thumbnail.
- Click pages, or type a range in the “1-3, 5, 8-10” boxClicking a thumbnail toggles it. Typing a range replaces the current selection; “Select all” and “Clear” sit at the top of the card.
- Click “Extract N pages → PDF”The selected pages are saved as one new PDF, in page order, named after the original with -extract added.
- Or click “Split every page (.zip)”Each page becomes its own PDF and the set downloads as one .zip; no selection is needed. A one-page document downloads as a single PDF instead.
FAQ
Is my PDF uploaded when I split it?
No. Your browser reads the file from disk, pdf.js draws the thumbnails and pdf-lib writes the new files, all inside the page. The downloads are created in memory on your device, which makes the tool suitable for contracts, statements and anything else you would rather not send to an upload-based service.
How do I delete pages from a PDF?
Select the pages you want to keep and extract them. The quick way: click “Select all”, click the pages you want gone to deselect them, then click “Extract N pages → PDF”. The new file holds everything except the pages you left out; your original file is not changed.
What page-range formats can I type?
Page numbers and ranges separated by commas, such as 2, 4-7, 10. Spaces are fine, a range written backwards (9-3) is treated as 3-9, duplicates are merged and numbers past the last page are ignored. Open-ended ranges like “5-” and words like “last” are not understood, so write the end page as a number.
What is kept in the extracted or split pages?
The pages themselves are copied unchanged: text stays selectable and searchable, fonts and images keep their original data, and each page keeps its own size and rotation. Bookmarks, the document’s form definition (so fields may stop being fillable) and the title and author are not copied. Web links on a page keep working, but links that jump to another page may not.
Can I extract pages in a different order, or into several files?
Extract always writes pages in their original order, whichever order you clicked them in. For several files, extract one selection, change the selection and extract again; each export is a separate PDF with the same -extract name, so rename them as you go. For a custom order, extract or split the pages you need and combine them in Merge PDF.
Why does it say “Could not read this PDF”?
The file could not be opened, usually because it needs a password or is damaged; there is no password prompt here. A file with only permission restrictions (no open password) previews normally, but its pages are not decrypted and come out blank or garbled in the exported files. In both cases remove the protection first: the PDF editor on this site asks for the password, removes it on your device and saves an unlocked copy.
Is there a page or file-size limit?
The tool sets no fixed limit; the ceiling is your device’s memory. Every page is rendered to a thumbnail before you can select, so a document with hundreds of pages takes longer to open and uses more memory, especially on a phone. Split every page also keeps all the single-page files in memory until the .zip is built.
