What is my IP address?

Your public IPv4 and IPv6, live — plus your country, the Cloudflare edge serving you, HTTP and TLS versions, whether you’re behind WARP, and the registry record of who actually owns your address block. Every lookup goes straight from your browser to the source; nothing passes through a BRev server.

How this works: your browser asks ipify.org and cloudflare.com what address they see your requests arriving from — that is the only way any website can tell you your public IP, because your own device usually only knows its private LAN address. The lookups go straight from your browser to those services; BRev has no server in the flow and never sees your address.

What your IP reveals — and what it doesn’t

Every website you visit sees your public IP — it is the return address on each request, and the web cannot work without it. From it, anyone can look up your ISP, the network owner (as shown above) and a rough region. That is real information, but it is far less than most people fear.

It is not your identity. An IP does not carry your name, street address or browsing history. Tying an address to a person needs your ISP’s subscriber records, which are released only under legal process. Public geolocation databases guess the city — often wrongly, especially on mobile.

Why it keeps changing: most ISPs assign addresses dynamically, so yours can change when your router reconnects — and it changes completely whenever you switch networks (home, office, mobile data, café Wi-Fi). An IP is a property of the connection, not the device.

Your IPv4 may be shared. Because IPv4 addresses ran out, many ISPs — nearly all mobile carriers — use carrier-grade NAT (CGNAT): hundreds of customers exit through the same public IPv4. If a website rate-limits or blocks “your” address, it may really be reacting to a neighbour behind the same CGNAT. IPv6 restores one-address-per-connection, which is one reason its adoption matters.

VPNs and Cloudflare WARP replace the address websites see with the exit server’s. When WARP is on, this page shows the WARP exit IP, not your ISP’s — that is the point of the product, and it is why the location and owner data above describe the exit, not you.

Lookups go directly from your browser to ipify.org, cloudflare.com, the RIR’s RDAP service and (only if you ask) ipapi.co — BRev never sees your IP.
